Born in Newport Beach, Steve was an extremely active athlete from an early age, competing in BMX, motocross, Muay Thai kickboxing, football, track, and weightlifting. With his passion and personal athletic successes, he always knew that he wanted to build a career in human performance, and set on a path straight out of high school to do so. Steve became an entrepreneur while earning his degree in Kinesiology, opening a personal training studio at the age of 21.

Since then, Steve has been a successful and nationally acclaimed gym owner in several states. He came back to Southern California with a dream to open the best gym facility on the West Coast. Brandon and Steve met in 2018, and a great partnership formed shortly thereafter. And thus, Legendary Strength Company was born.

Steve McCarthy is a highly sought-after Strength and Conditioning Coach because of his remarkable abilities to increase strength, power, speed, flexibility, and sport-specific endurance. Combined with his attention to detail, genuine care, and constant commitment to the health and well-being of every client, it is no wonder that Steve has a high retention rate.

His versatility and expertise span every level and age of athlete, from youths to the everyday individual, NFL players, UFC fighters, professional boxers, and Olympic athletes. With more than 20 years of experience, hard work, and dedication, he is proud to helm a training system uniquely designed to address every one of your specific needs.

Whether it is post-surgery rehabilitation or hardcore workouts, you will maximize strength, power, flexibility, mobility, and overall explosiveness to enhance every aspect of your human performance.

I am thrilled to be joining the Legendary Strength Company team. As a strength and conditioning enthusiast and someone who competed at the near-highest levels of Greco-Roman wrestling myself, I understand the importance of having the right strength training program and support to help my clients achieve their desired results.

Previously, I utilized my mindset and knowledge as the Performance Director for the Windy City Storm AAA Tier 1 hockey program. As their head strength and conditioning coach, I was part of a team that helped both the U14 and U18 teams qualify for the AAA National Championships, with the U14 team making it to the Final 8, in early April 2024.

Additionally, under my supervision, all age groups of the Windy City Storm AAA Tier 1 hockey program reported a record-low number of injuries throughout their seven-to-eight-month season, and six of the teams, boys and girls, that I coached made it to the State Championship series.

Joey was born and raised in Palmdale, California. He moved to Mission Viejo in 2012 and has been serving the fitness and health community as a coach for the past seven years in Orange County. He has maintained his NESTA certification for that time span and continues to further his education under the roof here at Legendary Strength Company, led by Director of Performance Steve McCarthy.

Since the age of five, Joey played football and baseball until his sophomore year in high school, when he parted ways with baseball and chose to give his all to football. He continued his football career at Saddleback College, but it was cut short due to a career-ending neck injury. Within the dark of that, Joey found light in becoming a personal trainer, and he has not looked back since.

Joey has a deep passion for delivering results for his clients, but also for making them a better version of themselves, whether it is on the gym floor or within their daily lives. He believes that his clients make him a better coach, and he strives to do whatever it takes to bring them success.

“I love to help individuals improve movement quality and achieve levels of strength and performance they did not think were possible.”

  • Operation Inherent Resolve deployment
  • Movement quality and return-from-injury focus

Kevin’s journey with Legendary Strength Company started long before he became a coach. He began training with Director of Performance Steve McCarthy at age 15 in Naperville, Illinois, through high school athletics and mixed martial arts, building a foundation that shaped his commitment to strength and conditioning for years to come.

After graduating high school in 2016, Kevin served five years in the United States Marine Corps, earning the rank of Sergeant. Stationed at both MCAS Miramar and Camp Pendleton, he maintained exceptional physical and combat readiness standards, oversaw strength and conditioning for his platoon, and deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

While serving, Kevin sustained a right ulnar nerve injury that threatened not just his ability to train, but his long-term strength, health, and everyday quality of life. Despite being told he might not regain full strength, Kevin committed himself to rebuilding. Under the mentorship of Steve, he not only restored his strength but surpassed previous levels, and did so while eliminating pain. That experience fueled his passion for better understanding human performance and real coaching.

At Legendary Strength Company, Kevin continues his professional development under the mentorship of Steve McCarthy and is currently pursuing further education to refine his coaching craft. His goal is simple: help individuals improve movement quality and achieve levels of strength and performance they did not think were possible, just as he did himself.

“Reclaim strength and resilience from the ground up.”

  • NASM CPT and Corrective Exercise Specialist

I have been coaching for 14 years and specialize in foot function and performance longevity.

I grew up as a competitive dancer, competed in powerlifting in my twenties, and now focus on being as strong as I possibly can to keep up with my young daughter, who loves martial arts, and my husband, who is a professional bodybuilder.

My coaching focuses on developing strength that translates beyond the gym. I am especially passionate about foot strength and quadrupedal training because the way we interact with the ground influences everything we do, from lifting and sprinting to simply moving through daily life.

By combining foot function, high-quality movement, and progressive strength training, I help athletes and active adults reduce injury risk, move with more confidence, and continue training at a high level for years to come.

At the core of my coaching philosophy is a simple belief: strength in the gym builds resilience in life. When we build strong bodies, we become more capable humans in and out of the gym.

In addition to coaching in person at Legendary Strength Company, I also work closely with The Foot Collective, where I educate people around the world on the importance of building strong feet.

Brandon Hahr is a co-owner of Legendary Strength Company and a passionate advocate for youth athletics, personal development, and building strong, confident young people.

For Brandon, Legendary has always been about more than improving performance on the field or court. He believes sports and strength training provide an opportunity to teach young athletes how to work hard, respond to adversity, stay disciplined, support the people around them, and develop confidence that extends far beyond competition. His goal is to help create an environment where young athletes are challenged to become stronger physically while developing the mentality and character they will carry into adulthood.

At the center of Brandon’s philosophy is service with humility. He believes leadership is not about recognition, but about creating opportunities for others, investing in people, and helping young athletes discover what they are capable of becoming. He is especially passionate about giving kids the coaching, structure, encouragement, and expectations that allow them to grow into resilient and capable individuals.

Professionally, Brandon is the CEO and Managing Partner of Kingsmen Digital Ventures, a Southern California software development and product strategy firm. Through Kingsmen, he has spent his career building teams, developing leaders, and helping organizations turn ambitious ideas into successful products. Many of the principles that guide him in business — accountability, preparation, perseverance, teamwork, and putting people first — are the same values he hopes to reinforce through Legendary.

Outside of work, Brandon is an avid car collector and lifelong automotive enthusiast. More importantly, he is deeply committed to his family and is highly involved in his children’s athletics, development, and pursuits. Whether in business, sports, or family life, he approaches success with the same belief: set a high standard, put in the work, stay humble, and help the people around you become better along the way.

Why Legendary exists

Building a physical culture.

We designed Legendary Strength Company to give everyone access to the same athletic strength and conditioning gym experience as the best athletes in the world have.

Physical culture is more than just working out. It is a commitment to strength, resilience, and lifelong movement. It is about developing discipline, work ethic, and a mindset that values progress over perfection. At Legendary Strength Company, we foster a culture where strength training, athleticism, and functional fitness create a foundation for confidence, health, and performance.

Whether you are an athlete or just starting, embracing physical culture means pushing limits, embracing challenges, and becoming the strongest version of yourself.
